More Drywall Finishing V

July 4 - 8, 2007

This is the most exciting update I have put together in a long time.
All kinds of cool stuff happened during this trip. The coolest happening, which
isn't even related to our WV project, occurred on July 5 ...

Our newest grandson, Joey, was born!

And we took a bit of a break to enjoy some motorcycle riding. After
all, the primary reason we decided to build this house was so we'd have
a weekend retreat to serve as a "base" for our motorcycle rides.

Mike took this shot of me leading the way.

This is the kind of scenery we got to enjoy.
It was really a beautiful day.

We rounded a curve and saw these giant windmills.

We stopped for a closer look at the windmills and decided it
was a good photo opportunity. We could hear the whoosh of wind.

I REALLY like my new motorcycle. I have over 1,000 miles on it now.

Riding takes a lot out of you. Mike enjoyed a nap in his hammock.

After dinner it was back to drywall finishing.

We're both getting a bit tired of this stuff.

The next bit of excitement is that I bought a real mattress.
This is me happily deflating the air mattress we've been using.

The final excitement is that we reached an important milestone. The
drywall work in the kitchen and master bedroom is complete. We actually
got to start painting. This is just the primer, but it is a start!

I did the brush work while Mike used the roller.

The kitchen is really starting to take shape now.

I'll probably get tired of painting real fast.

Before you know it, we'll be installing cabinets.

We'll actually have a working kitchen!

Here's Mike painting the bedroom wall.

And that damn closet I spent so much time in smearing mud.

It may just be primer, but it looks beautiful to me.

Now I have to think about a paint color.

Looking into the kitchen from the garage.

Next week, Mike will be working on the plumbing. He has a few more things
to do before we can hook up the permanent gas supply for the kitchen stove.
