The Kirkpatrick's D.I.Y. Project for 2005
Completing the Sheathing
August 13 - 14, 2005
Amy and her fiance, TJ, came up on Saturday to help finish installing the sheathing.
TJ's kids, Brianna and Gaige, our soon-to-be grandkids, came along, too.
I know this sounds repetitive, but it was HOT. Again. It was in the mid to upper 90s
with very high humidity. I was sort of glad to get demoted to gofer.
TJ removes some of the supports to make room for the sheathing.
It was my job to hand up the plywood.
Break time!
Just a little more than 1 row remains.
TJ and Amy wonder how they let themselves be guilted into coming up to help.
And Gaige says, "I thought you were taking me to play soccer!"
CeCe was happy to have company.
Amy and Gaige watch from the front yard...
...as the final piece of sheathing is installed.
One final adjustment, and then it is...
Break time!
Brianna and Amy smile for the camera.
Brianna shows off her boo-boo.
Brianna cools Daddy's back with an ice cube.
Then the guys are back on the roof to install tar paper, while Amy
and I take the kids into Romney to Dairy Queen.
Mike and TJ covered the front side with tar paper before the heat got
the best of them around 5:00 and they decided to call it a day.
Mike and I covered the back side with tar paper on Sunday morning. We ran out
of tar paper, though, so we have 1 more row to install next time we are there.
Which will not be next week because we FINALLY get a VACATION!!!
It's about time, don't you think? Mike and I are both ready for the break.
Even the dogs are ready for a change. Here Meg tries to get a drink of water.
