Paint & Molding

November 9 - 11, 2007

The dogs stayed home with me last weekend. They were excited to
get back to WV so they could wear their new "No Shoot-em" outfits.
Notice that I even added names to the vests? I couldn't resist.

The old outfits were pretty crappy. I made them a
couple of years ago when my sewing skills were a bit rougher.
These are much nicer. I even made them flannel-lined.

Here's Mike cutting some molding.

He installed closet doors, too.

Even more exciting, Mike added the base to our table.
Mike waits to eat our first meal at the new table.

I spent a good deal of time cleaning and repainting the inside
of the kitchen cabinets. The concrete mess did a number on them.

Now they look as good as new. Well, as new as 40-year-old
cabinets that I bought at a salvage yard can look.

Here's MIke using his new battery-operated caulking gun.

Here's a closer look at the tool. It is made by Black and Decker.

Here's Meg enjoying her new doggie bed.

Mike put me to work installing outlet covers.

The dog vests come off after dark when the hunters are gone.
If you look closely, you can see the coordinating flannel lining
that I just happened to have laying around.

Mike is cleaning up after the big caulking job.
The house is almost 100% airtight.

C is enjoying the other bed. When I realized
I had leftover fabric from when I made the quilt
for the bed, I couldn't resist making doggie beds
to match the bed quilt. Geeky, I know.
But aren't they the cutest things!?!

Now, if I could just get rid of the cat litter night stand...

This is Mike caulking in the bedroom after installing more molding.

This is C watching Mike.

Finally, the bathroom gets caulked.
Now it needs to be painted.

The molding makes a significant difference in the way the room looks.
I'll never again complain about having married an engineer!
He's good at everything. And very neat, too.

We had some friends–Kathy, Barry and Nadya Spice–stop by
for a visit on Sunday afternoon. We were both bummed after they left
and we realized we didn't take any pictures of them visiting.
I forgot to mention that Max, their dog, visited, too.
