Odds & Ends
March 28 - March 30, 2008
The more small stuff we get accomplished, the happier I get.
Because that means SOON we will be FINISHED!
This would fit in the "odd" category. Actually, it is a
beautiful thing. That blue tank is the thing that was causing
our pressure fluctuation issues. The one in the picture is
actually the new version. Mike is now finished the plumbing!
Here I am, yet again the victim of "drywall ass",
as I work to finish that damn bedroom! You'd think I
would learn not to wear black for this particular task.
After Mike finished plumbing work, he straightened up the garage.
He actually loaded our motorcycles into the trailer. All we need
now is a license plate for the trailer so we can bring the bikes home.
After I had done as much drywall work as I could for the day
(we ran out of sanding screens), I finished cleaning the leaves
out of the gutter beside the driveway. A job I started last week.
After nearly killing myself raking for a few hours, I got cleaned up
and we drove off to LaVale, Maryland, the location of the closest Lowe's.
In addition to sanding screens, we also needed to buy doors for the spare
bedrooms and some other hardware-type stuff. We got dinner, too.
Sunday morning, it was back to work. Here's Mike applying primer in
the spare bedroom I worked so hard to finish. Now we can paint!
By Sunday, the dogs are pretty darn tired. When I went back into the
house, I discovered Meg curled up in the recliner where she is not supposed
to be. Right after I took this picture, I made her get down.
See how nice my walls look?
Now I just have to decide what color I want to paint them!
Our new doors. They'll get installed after the rooms are painted.
Another shot of the clean garage. The strips of wood laying on
the floor in front of the tool dressers is the base molding that
Mike needs to install in the bedrooms. Another finishing touch.
A close-up of the washer and dryer? I think Mike was bored.
Actually, I think he was hoping to show off his silver box, which
he fashioned out of insulation board to hide the plumbing works.
Mike hung another wall cabinet beside the garage door.
Those cabinets really need to be painted...
Mike also installed three new lights under the range hood. The
light that came with it wasn't bright enough. Mike found these cute
little lights at Lowe's and installed them the very next day.
He also replaced the outlet behind the TV with a black outlet
and face plate so it blends into the black wall behind it. We really
did do a wide variety of stuff this past weekend!
What you don't see pictures of is me FINALLY getting at that awful,
unsightly pile of dead trees at the bottom of our driveway with my
chainsaw. Mike was kind enough to sharpen the blade and tune it up
for me. So I guess I won't complain too much about him not getting
any pictures of me working. I was NOT napping, I swear!
Below are some cute doggie pics. If you are only here
for the riveting construction photos, stop reading now...
Every morning, without fail, the dogs insist that I walk
them down the driveway. It is a weird routine that they really
enjoy. I am not sure why. But here they are waiting to leave.
Meg disappeared, as she often does. While we waited
for her to come back, I snapped a few pics of C.
Here's C patiently waiting for Meg's return.
Believe it or not, she'll be 12 on May 2.
Meg and C had a "day of beauty" last week (baths and haircuts).
Since they looked so cute, I decided to dress them up for the weekend.
In case you were wondering why they have the bandanas on.
It wasn't long before Meg showed up. She never goes far.
Meg's birthday is June 8. She'll be turning 9.
Nap time!
Here's Meg the bird dog chasing the birds. There are a bunch of
Dark-eyes Juncos, Tufted Titmice and a couple of Cardinals that
love tormenting her. They usually fly from a nearby pine tree to
this chokecherry bush and then back again while she runs back and
forth like she's really going to catch one. It is entertaining.
Notice the buds on the chokecherry bush? Spring is really arriving!
This tree is a bit taller than the pine the birds usually fly to.
If only she could climb trees!
Next weekend, we'll be painting the bedrooms.
As much as I hate to paint, I am very excited.
Be sure to stop back again.
