The Kirkpatrick's D.I.Y. Project for 2005
Installing the Pipes
July 3 - 4, 2005
Alas, no rest for the weary. The next day was still HOT,
Chuck had gone home, but we had to put in the plumbing.
Mike uses a digging bar to chip through the shale-filled ground.
That's me preparing to install some plumbing pipe.
CeCe, bored, watches from a nearby pile of leaves.
I have to get down low to make sure it will fit.
Here I am measuring to install the porch supports.
I used the hoe to backfill enough dirt to seat the supports.
Putting the LAST concrete block in place! Of course, there are
still some extras that have to be moved from the middle of the site.
Mike cuts some pipe.
Priming the end of the pipe just before gluing it in place.
Sewage pipe.
The plumbing is done! The last piece we installed connects
the interior plumbing to the septic tank.
The kitchen plumbing on the side connects into the main
line at the back corner of the house.
The gray pipe is not plumbing pipe, it is electrical
conduit. Allegheny Power will be installing our electric meter
at the front corner of the house, so we installed some underground
conduit to get the power around to the back where Mike plans to
install the main power console.
Interior and exterior plumbing.
The tube in the middle is where the fresh water comes into the house.
A view across the future front porch.
It feels so good to have accomplished so much!
