The Kirkpatrick's D.I.Y. Project 2006 (Year Two)

Still More Siding and Cabinet Prep

October 14 - 15, 2006

Yard art.

Mike started working pretty early on Saturday. The siding finally arrived, so he
actually got to install some soffit. I wasn't there yet because it was the day I
decided to ride my motorcycle back to WV where it will spend the winter.

Cutting the pieces to size.

Installing the pieces.

While he was working, I took the dogs for a romp in the woods. Not because I
didn't want to work, but because C hates noise and enjoys being away from all
of the loud banging and sawing. You can see Meg LOVES to run.

They both like exploring the woods. It's nice for them to run free.

My bike looks right at home among the foliage.

Taking some measurements.

I finally decided to get to work on my cabinets. When I
started the prep work, I forgot all about these wall cabinets.

So I had to sand them all and wipe the dust off with mineral spirits.

While that dried, I checked out Mike's progress with the soffit.

Not only was one side finished, but he'd started work on the back.

I forget what this stuff is called. Maybe J channel. Whatever
it is called, this is how the soffit is attached to the house.

Nap time for the dogs.

The wall cabinets with a black base coat.

The back soffit is almost complete.

And the work on the rear gable end has begun!

I helped cut so Mike didn't have to climb up and down
off of the little roof. We actually got that end done.

C was happy, too! This is her "quit making noise" look.
