The Kirkpatrick's D.I.Y. Project 2006 (Year Two)
Interior Walls & Plumbing, Part V
May 5 - 7, 2006
This is Moses, our oldest cat, sitting on our suitcase.
It may look like she doesn't want us to leave, but what that
look really says is "Hurry up and get those damn dogs out
of here but make sure you feed me before you go!"
The sunset on the way to WV was kind of cool so I had to take a picture.
Mike's job for the weekend was more plumbing and wiring. My job was to clear more wood.
I did a pretty good job beside the house already. Now I have to focus on all of
the downed trees that line the driveway.
While I was outside playing with my chain saw, Mike got the water heater installed.
A nice close-up of Mike's handiwork.
This is the next-to-the-last plumbing connection.
Look! An action photo!
The last plumbing connection.
Mike installing the shower valve...
...and connecting the water heater to the electric panel.
Some piping.
Some more piping.
Mike test-fitting the drywall...
...and pushing his glasses back up his nose as he ponders the next step.
The temporary curtain rod.
And the WORKING shower!
Some of the lighting Mike installed.
The same lighting from the workman's perspective. Mike said he had to
take these pictures because I never get up there. He's right, too. I have no
real reason to stick my head in the ceiling.
Wiring and piping.
The finished system.
The laundry tub and well pump.
This is probably the most interesting picture of the weekend.
Did I mention that birds keep getting into the house?
Mike snapped these pics of a befuddled hummingbird. She was stuck.
She found her way into the house, but couldn't find her way out!
Mike finally captured her, took her outside, and set her free.
He redeemed himself for stealing three separate bird nests, the last of which contained four eggs!
I have been calling him the bird murderer.
We had hoped to get the toilet and sink installed, too, but we were missing some
important parts. Neither of us felt like making the 2-hour round-trip to Lowe's,
so the toilet and sink have to wait. That's the next big step for sure!
