The Kirkpatrick's D.I.Y. Project 2006 (Year Two)
Interior Walls - Part I
March 16 - 19, 2006
Despite my being away for the weekend with my girlfriends, Mike
went to West Virginia to continue working on the house.
Now that the floor has dried, it is nice to see that it has stayed glossy.
It will need to be re-touched periodically, especially since we
are still building. We still have a LOT more mess to make.
The small, white spots you see are bird poo.
It isn't perfect, but we think it looks pretty good.
Mike and I are both pleased with the result.
Mike spotted this turkey on Turkey Hollow
Road just opposite the end of our driveway.
In this closeup you can see that wild turkeys look a bit
different than the domestic turkeys you are used to seeing.
Now that the floor is done...
LET THE PLUMBING WORK BEGIN!!!
That's the shower unit you see on the trailer.
The shower is in place and the first wall is just beginning.
The treated 2 x 4s on the floor are where the bathroom walls will be.
The piping is in place.
The first wall continues to grow.
Look how dirty the floor got already!
Mike says the walls should go up pretty quickly.
The black box fastened to the plywood is the unit that controls the well pump.
Over in the far, right corner you can see where Mike has laid his plans on some
cabinets in what is soon to be our very cool, new kitchen.
I am anxious to get to work painting these cabinets!
