Counter & Bedroom Prep

August 24 - 26, 2007

There was lots to do this weekend. All of our equipment barely fit into the truck.

I finally took the quilt I made to put on our bed.
Notice the new, green doggie bed? I made that, too.
I also made a brown one. They are only temporary.

Mike's big task was forming the countertop to prep for the concrete pour.
This will be the opening for the sink.

Forming the edge.

The inside edge is finished.

Now its time for the outside edge.

This is where the sink will be.

Meg likes the new doggie bed I made.

Preparing the opening for the stove.

In some weird twist of magnetic forces that affected certain mountain locales
in the northern hemisphere during the last weekend of August, Meg found herself,
her new bed, and our furnishings and other miscellaneous stuff stuck to the ceiling.

The form work is done.

Mike adds the wire mesh to reinforce the concrete.

Here he is cutting the mesh to fit.

The rebar has been added.

The form is finished.

Next weekend, we should be able to pour the concrete.

I did do some work finishing the drywall in the main house.

Mike also had to work in the garage so we can hang drywall.

Wires and stuff that he worked on, like insulating the ducts.

Part of the work included running telephone wires.

This is where the wires exit the house.

I also painted the door between the main house and spare bedrooms.
