Insulating the Attic, FINALLY

February 29 - March 2, 2008

We skipped another weekend. Only because it was time for my annual
girlfriend getaway to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Mike was going to come to
WV without me, but it snowed, then turned to freezing rain. Because
I had the 4-wheel drive truck with me (more room for purchases), he
thought it would just be wiser and safer to stay at the MD home.

We bought a trailer! It's for use primarily to easily transport the motorcycles.
It is 15 feet long and 7 feet wide. I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but
trust me when I say it will hold a lot of stuff (secondary use, shopping trips).

We were finally able to get the insulation AND the insulation blower.
You can see the 30 bags of insulation piled in front of the blue blower.

Mike "before" insulation.

Kathy during application of the insulation.
Did I mention that it makes a huge mess?

Believe it or not, I am smiling in this picture.

Kathy halfway through. The mask started out white.

Mike at the halfway mark.

He looks dusty, but not filthy. Yet.

Just about finished.

Finished! That is NOT dust on the lens, by the way.
It's dust in the air. That is why we were wearing masks.
Now he is officially filthy.

Here's what it looks like fully installed.

Later that same day, Mike installed electrical outlets in the bedroom.

A long shot of Mike, taken from the house looking down the hall.

Mike is on a mission to get all of the floors in the house waxed. This
is the master bedroom floor before he waxed it. It required 4 coats.

I was sanding the drywall while he was waxing the floors.

This is fun stuff! Like I said to Mike, I always wanted to learn how
to do drywall work, I just never thought I'd be doing so much of it!

Mike did drywall between coats of wax.

The floor after four coats of wax. Looks awesome, doesn't it?
For those of you that missed the flooring installments, the
floor is acid-stained concrete, with radiant heat built in.

Beyond the slippers is the unwaxed floor. See the difference?

Next weekend we'll be in MD with the grandkids. I'm not sure what
we'll be doing the weekend after that, but it won't be big.
All of the big stuff is almost done!!!
