The Kirkpatrick's D.I.Y. Project 2006 (Year Two)

Bedroom Work

June 2 - 4, 2006

We've been working like mad every weekend with one goal in mind...
getting rid of the camper. Or, as Mike calls it, the construction trailer.

Here he is, hard at work again, installing more wiring.
Actually, the wiring has been installed, now he is wiring the lights.

The next big goal for us has been getting the bedroom done.
Or at least usable. Mike is hanging a plastic sheet across the bedroom
ceiling. This is not necessary now, but it will be once the ceiling
is finished and insulation is installed.

The plastic acts as a vapor barrier between the ceiling and insulation.

Mike is trimming off the excess. When he was finished, we headed
off to La Vale, Maryland to shop at Lowe's and eat dinner. Some weekends
I just don't feel like cooking. We went to Ollie's, too.

Ollie's was important, because I bought some sheets for the air mattress.
Know what that means?

June 3, 2006 is the first night we slept INSIDE THE HOUSE!

A view of the bedroom from the living room.

This is our temporary kitchen table.

CeCe isn't so sure about sleeping in the house, what with all
the tool noises. But she was happy to see the dog beds in the
bedroom and surely will adjust soon enough.

Periodically I like to walk through our woods to check things out.
This is what the house looks like from the ridge at the back of our property.

The hill that slopes down in the rear of the lot.

This is just another shot of the woods. Looks peaceful, doesn't it?
What looks like a footpath that CeCe is standing on is actually a deer trail.
The evening before this was taken, CeCe found a turkey hiding in the grass.
She had no idea what to make of it at first, then realized it was a bird and
gave chase. CeCe is a Brittany, after all, and Brittanies are bird dogs.
