The Kirkpatrick's D.I.Y. Project 2006 (Year Two)

Interior Work

August 4 - 6, 2006

I stayed home again! This is getting to be a habit, eh? I had an excuse though.
I had to get ready for the wedding! Amy, our middle child, got married on August 12.
I thought it might be fun to do the reception flower arrangements ourselves. Me being
the procrastinator with everything but work (I get paid for that!), I needed to get busy
making the centerpieces. Amy helped. They turned out good, too, if I do say so myself.

This is a single bouquet. They look real, don't they?

A field of flowers with Amy in the background.

While Amy and I were playing florist, Mike was making a kitchen cabinet.
I bought some cheap, old wooden cabinets so I can get creative with decorating
them. The kitchen is small, so Mike had to get creative to fill some space.

The cabinets are just about ready to paint. In fact, unless we are
installing vinyl siding, I'll be painting cabinets on Labor Day Weekend.

The kitchen is shaping up nicely. At some point after painting
the cabinets, we'll be ready to make our concrete countertop.

Mike sealed the windows (bug-proofing for me!).

He also installed more register boots (duct material is on order).

These register boots may not look exciting, but do you know what
they mean? Soon we'll be getting central A/C. Now THAT is exciting.

He got lots of those installed.

Here's some more foamboard to keep the insulation out of the space
above the garage. No need to waste money insulating the garage.

Enough house work already. The next update will show late-August
work because on August 11-13 we were busy at Amy's wedding.

More wedding pics will be posted when we get them
from the photographer in a couple of weeks.
