The Kirkpatrick's D.I.Y. Project 2006 (Year Two)
Interior Walls & Plumbing!
March 31 - April 2, 2006
Another weekend of labor in good ole WV. Mike and I worked on individual
projects. He ran plumbing while I did some more clearing of downed wood.
The first picture you see below is old. It was taken in July 2005. It is
not a particularly flattering picture of me, but it does give you a good
idea of just how much wood I had to contend with.
I have been chipping away at it as I have found "spare" time.
As you can see from the photos immediately above and below, I've made progress...
...but still have a good bit of wood to clear.
While I was out playing woodswoman, Mike framed the door
between the house and the temporary bedrooms in the garage.
They are temporary until we are old enough to retire and add
the Phase 2 addition onto the house.
Look! An action shot of me bucking with my chainsaw.
I am getting pretty good with this saw stuff.
I still have some big roots to contend with.
But I am pretty happy with the amount of wood I've moved.
This is only some of it. We probably burned about a cord in the last year.
When I'd had enough of the chainsaw work, I went into town to shop. I
bought this cool barn star at a country decor shop. It's inside only
on a temporary basis. Once the siding is up, I'll hang it above the garage.
Here's some of the plumbing work Mike was doing.
The vent is now finished.
Mike is measuring the water heater. This is not the actual water heater.
Mike ordered a natural gas model by accident. We need the propane model. Since
they are both the same size, Mike was able to take dimensions to plan the
future installation of the correct water heater.
More pipe work. I think this copper pipe carries water to the faucets
while the PVC stuff is for drainage. I didn't consult with Mike before typing
this, so I could very well be wrong.
I have no idea what this thing is technically called. Basically, it is the
workings that make the well pump run. The thing on the floor is the water filter,
which has yet to be installed.
Next weekend, I think Mike will finish the plumbing and start running the wiring.
