How hot? Get a load of the temperatures in the image I posted below.
In Severn today, it is supposed to hit 104 degrees (that’s 40 degrees Celsius). At our country home in West Virginia, it will be a slightly less miserable 100 degrees (37.8 degrees Celsius).
There’s no reprieve coming anytime soon either.
Last week, on Thursday and Friday, it was 20 to 30 degrees cooler. And not very humid. It was delightful. That’s how the weather should be.
This week, not only are temperatures going to be high, humidity levels are up there, too. So even though the thermometers already say it’s going to be hot, it will actually feel even hotter because of all the moisture in the air.
Thank goodness for air conditioning.
During heat waves such as this, major metropolitan areas generally establish designated “cooling centers” so people without air conditioning have a place to go to escape the heat. I’ve never heard mention of such a thing in rural areas near our WV place. There are houses scattered all over the place out here. We’ve got numerous farms, many, many remote cabins and other dwellings. I wonder where those people can go to get relief? Granted, it gets much hotter in cities where all the concrete, asphalt and bricks absorb and hold heat. But it gets hot out here, too.
Last week, I spent the large part of three days working on my back porch. This week, I may not even venture outside to take the dogs for a walk.
I’m ready for summer to be over. Come on Fall!
I miss Gent…
I wonder if this is what H-ll feels like!
I think this might be hotter.
Well, you can always come to Melbourne for the Fall weather we’re having here. It’s actually winter, but the temps are more Fall-like by our standards.
Hm, 100 degrees Fahrenheit – that’s like 3000 degrees Celsius! 🙂
